Southwestern Law School Announces the 33rd Annual Alumni Awards Gala

Los Angeles, CA – Southwestern Law School proudly announces the 33rd Annual Alumni Awards Gala, hosted by Southwestern’s Alumni Association. The event is scheduled for Thursday, June 20, 2024, at the Skirball Cultural Center, gathering legal professionals from Southern California to recognize the achievements of Southwestern alumni. 

The Gala will include a reception, dinner, and opportunities for networking, emphasizing the legacy and community of Southwestern alumni. It serves as the Law School's main event to honor the contributions of its graduates to the legal profession and society. 

This year, the Gala will honor individuals for their contributions to the legal field: 

• Alumnus of the Year: Arash Homampour, Class of 1992, recognized for his work in catastrophic injury and wrongful death litigation. Homampour's career transition from a solo practice to leading The Homampour Law Firm demonstrates significant professional development and success in legal representation. 

• Lifetime Achievement Award: Robert C. Brandt, Class of 1976, a Certified Family Law Specialist, acknowledged for over 40 years of service in family law. Brandt's approach to client representation and his standing in the legal community have earned him respect and recognition. 

• Outstanding Judicial Officer: The Honorable Susan Bryant-Deason, Class of 1978, awarded for her contributions to the judiciary and legal education. Her leadership in the Externship Program of the Los Angeles Superior Court highlights her commitment to legal education and professional development. 

• Outstanding Friend: Debbie Leathers, recognized for her four decades of service to Southwestern. Her role in alumni relations and development has been critical in supporting the Law School's mission and objectives. 

Net proceeds from the Gala will benefit the Southwestern Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship Fund, supporting the Law School's commitment to financial assistance for students. The scholarship program aids students aiming to make impactful contributions to society.
