Please join us for the Municipal Law Institute's annual conference on California municipal law. The conference brings together the leading experts on California municipal law to discuss the cutting-edge issues facing California cities and other local government entities.
This year's conference features a panel on the Opioid Epidemic and what the national settlement means for local governments. Conference panels focus on technology, water rights, labor and employment relations and the devastating impacts of last year's wildfires.

As COVID-19 spread through the air, discussions surrounding labor and employment issues in the public sector have at times been heated, but they do not need to be. City, Union and neutral viewpoints will examine vaccine mandates and policies, teleworking and labor negotiations and the meet and confer process, provide updates on CALOSHA regulations, COVID-19 employment related lawsuits and claims and Public Employment Relations Board decisions and settlements, and offer practical tips to turn down the temperature and successfully navigate issues facing today’s public agencies and their employees.

The fire season in California is starting earlier and ending later each year, with often devastating impacts on local municipalities. The state’s wildfire prevention efforts impact local governments in varied and sometimes challenging ways, often requiring municipal practitioners to identify and resolve competing local and state-wide interests such as the potential conflict between housing demand and fire risks.
