Brought to you by our Training Subcommittee of the Dean’s Task Force on Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging.
Register to vote! Election day is November 3rd, 2020.
Dear Southwestern Community,
The election is coming up on Tuesday, November 3, and if you would like to volunteer in a non-partisan way, to help protect the vote, read on!
Southwestern’s Training Sub-committee of the Dean’s Task Force on Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging, invites you to consider the following ways to get involved in our election process:
ELECTION PROTECTION HOTLINE SPOTS AVAILABLE!
If you are a law student or an attorney, please consider signing up to volunteer with the 866-Our-Vote hotline! Slots have become available beginning October 19.
Sign Up to be a Hotline Volunteer
There is also a need for Hotline Captains. To learn more and sign up, go to https//bit.ly/2HZmH76.
If you do not have a legal background and would like to volunteer in a non-partisan way to help protect the vote on November 3 (and during early voting periods), please consider serving as a poll worker, poll monitor, or social media monitor, please consider the following:
A HIGH NEED FOR POLLWORKERS
In Polk County, FL (Kissimmee and Lakeland)*; Gwinnett County, GA; Flint, MI; Allentown/Lehigh Valley, PA*; Pittsburgh, PA; San Antonio, TX; Green Bay, WI, and Racine, WI (cities with an asterisk are in need of bilingual poll workers). However, several cities across the nation are in need of poll workers.
To see if there is an opportunity near you or to sign up, go to www.powerthepolls.org. Should you decide to volunteer your time in-person, be sure to review both the CDC guidelines and state guidelines for poll workers ahead of your date of service.
POLL MONITORS or SOCIAL MEDIA MONITORS – you choose!
If you are not able to serve as a poll worker or volunteer, consider being a poll monitor (from your vehicle or onsite) or a social media monitor (watchdogging social media for misinformation). Go to https://protectthevote.net/ to sign up to be a monitor.
PIZZA TO THE POLLS.
Spread the word about Pizza to the Polls. They will deliver pizza to polling locations with long lines across the country. To make an order or a donation, go to https://polls.pizza/.
