Oscar Teran joins Southwestern as new Associate Dean of the Career Services Office
Southwestern is thrilled to announce Oscar Teran as the new Associate Dean of the Career Services Office. Most recently, Oscar served as Western State's Director of Career Development. Oscar's higher education experience also includes serving as the Founding Director of the DREAM Center at UC-Irvine, Assistant Director of Career Services at Chapman Law, and Director of the Alumni Mentor Program at his alma mater, UC-Hastings.
"It is an honor and privilege to join Southwestern's community as the new Associate Dean for Career Services. I come to Southwestern with nine years of experience in higher education as well as experience as a practicing attorney. I was drawn to Southwestern because of its long history of inclusion, diversity, and producing pioneering leaders of the legal community–both in Los Angeles and nationally.
Throughout my interview process, I met driven students, dedicated professors, and talented staff members, all dedicated to making this the best and most innovative legal learning environment possible. I wish to bring this same energy to my work in the Career Office.
My vision for Southwestern's Career Office is simple: We will provide superior and personalized career development support to students and alumni; build strong relationships with employers and the legal community, and produce excellent career outcomes." - Oscar Teran
Before entering higher education, Oscar served as a staff attorney at Bay Area Legal Aid in San Jose, California Rural Legal Assistance in Delano, Positive Resource Center in San Francisco, and Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid in El Paso.
He is admitted to practice law in California and Texas, has been active in National Association for Law Placement, and has taught leadership courses through Chapman University's Attallah College of Educational Studies.
Join us in welcoming Oscar to the team!
