James joined Southwestern in 2023 as the Head of Public Services. James oversees the Circulation and Reference departments and teaches Legal Research. James has a B.A. in English from Morehead State University, a J.D., from Boston University School of Law, and his M.S.L.I.S., from Simmons College.

Before joining Southwestern, James was the Head of Access Services and Lecturing Fellow at Duke Law School’s Goodson Law Library. While at Duke, James taught in the first year Legal Analysis, Research, & Writing Program and managed the Access Services functions of Goodson Law Library. Before that, he worked at the University of Denver’s Westminster Law Library and the University of Kentucky’s William T. Young Library.
In addition, James also spent three years teaching in the University of Denver’s online master’s in library science program. James has presented at local and national conferences and is a member of different regional and national library organizations.
