French Attorney and Industry Leader Patrick Boiron to Teach International Entertainment Law Over Three Sundays in October
Professor Boiron's core business is media and entertainment law, both for transactional and litigation matters. He is working extensively for US clients: Hollywood studios, West coast law firms, indies, etc. He also represents high-profile artists in French litigation cases (Eric Clapton, Lady Gaga, Rihanna). Read his complete faculty profile here.
We don't mean to name drop, but Southwestern is incredibly fortunate to have such an accomplished lawyer share his knowledge with our students.
The course focuses on several major issues arising in European entertainment law practice and how those issues affect the practice of entertainment law in the United States. The primary issues covered include the right to privacy in the European Union, including the transfer of data to the United States; the protection of a person's name and likeness in Europe and how that protection affects the content of entertainment products and services that are distributed in Europe; and the protection of trademarks, as well as domain names, in Europe. Each class session includes practical analyses of relevant case studies.
Course sessions are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (with a one-hour break) over three Sundays: October 15th, October 22nd, and October 29th.
