Maintenance Worker

Southwestern Law School seeks a Maintenance Worker to join its facilities team. The Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing various tasks to ensure the proper functioning, cleanliness, and safety of the law school campus. This role involves routine maintenance, event set-up and take down, repairs, and building systems and equipment support. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. This is an in-person position, working Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.  

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities and equipment to identify maintenance needs
  • Assist with general repairs and maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry tasks
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, tools, and equipment
  • Respond to maintenance requests promptly with the ability to prioritize urgent issues
  • Assist with facility upgrades and renovations as needed
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs performed
  • Collaborate with other staff and departments to ensure facility operations run smoothly

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant vocational training is a plus
  • Proven experience in maintenance or a related field
  • Knowledge of building systems and maintenance best practices
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • The ability to work well with others

Work Environment: 

The Maintenance Worker may be required to work in various conditions, including indoor and outdoor settings, and may be exposed to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and climbing

Salary: $20.68/hr.
