Dean Amy McLellan has an extensive background in legal practice and education. Early in her career, she worked as a public interest attorney rendering invaluable services to homeless and marginalized individuals on matters of government benefits, disability rights, and regulatory law. She went on to practice business, tax, and estate planning in a law firm setting.
Prior to assuming her role at Southwestern School of Law, she served as Dean of Golden Gate University’s Business School and Tax School where she oversaw LLM Programs in Estate Planning and Taxation, and administered master’s and doctoral programs spanning Business, Psychology, and Technology. As a Professor and Director of Online Tax Education at the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law, she was an active member of the online education community and used her legal expertise to create highly engaging online and hybrid courses. She also developed and delivered a comprehensive spectrum of Tax Law courses for law and business school students during her tenure at Massachusetts School of Law.
Dean McLellan earned her J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law and an LL.M. in Taxation from Boston University School of Law, Graduate Taxation Program. She played a pivotal role in establishing the largest online U.S. Tax Conference and is recognized for her significant contributions in Greater Boston as an educator to attorneys, certified public accountants, and the wider public in the fields of tax and estate planning jurisprudence.
