Southern California’s Public Interest/Public Sector Career Day (PICD) Information Session

Secure a job with public sector employers, including law firms, government agencies, and public interest organizations throughout California by participating in PICD on Feb. 9, 2019. PICD is the largest regional recruitment, educational and networking event for law students across Southern California with 140+ participating employers. All participating students must attend this MANDATORY information session. We will be covering participation guidelines, funding options, and applicable hiring criteria, as well as key interviewing techniques. Note: applications are accepted beginning in December.

California Dept. of Justice, Attorney General's Office Information Panel

The California Dept. of Justice (DOJ) is the largest employer of attorneys in the executive branch. The A.G.’s Office is divided into three divisions: Criminal Law, Civil Law, and Public Rights. The DOJ hires both Graduate Legal Assistants (GLAs) and Deputy Attorneys General (DAGs). In addition, the DOJ has an excellent summer law clerk program. During our lunch time presentation, you will have the opportunity to hear from and meet with DOJ representatives with direct hiring authority and in charge of the summer program. The discussion will cover DOJ hiring and recruitment, including tips on applying and interviewing with government agencies.

Speed-interviews are approximately 7-minutes in length per individual and are designed to serve as the gateway to secure a more formal, traditional interview that may lead to hiring. No application is required. Simply bring your resume and dress in business suit attire to meet with employers looking to hire.
