Secure a job with public sector employers, including law firms, government agencies, and public interest organizations throughout California by participating in PICD on Feb. 10, 2018. PICD is the largest regional recruitment, educational and networking event for law students across Southern California with 140  participating employers. All participating students must attend this MANDATORY information session. We will be covering participation guidelines, funding options, and applicable hiring criteria, as well as key interviewing techniques. Note, applications are accepted beginning in December.

A number of environmental law attorneys will be on campus for a panel discussion, regarding their career paths and trajectory, as well as the practice of environmental law in the variety of sectors, including public interest, government and law firm. You will not only learn about environmental law, but also how the practice of law (in general) varies among sectors. The Environmental Law Careers Panel is co-sponsored by Professor Aronovsky and the Environmental Law Society.

The ABA Judicial Clerkship Program (JCP) is a 3 day conference that brings together 70 judges from across the country with minority law students to introduce and reinforce the reasons for perusing a judicial clerkship.  Over the course of conference, students participate in panel discussions, a research and writing exercise, and informal social events. Southwestern will be sending 4-6 students to the conference in February.  Numerous students have obtained externships and clerkships as a result of their attendance.  To learn more about this amazing opportunity, please plan on attending the CSO

Small and mid-size law firms are the largest (and currently most actively hiring) population of employers. Each fall, the Career Services Office recruits firms and brings them on campus for mini-interviews. This event is open to 2Ls, 3Ls, and recent grads. No application is required. Simply bring your resume, dress in business attire, and meet with employers who are looking to hire. The mini-interviews are approximately 7 minutes in length for each student and serve as the gateway to securing a more traditional interview that may result in being hired. Preparation is important to stand out from the crowd.
