Camera Operator for Law Lectures
Southwestern Law School is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Camera Operator to assist with filming law school lectures. This part-time position (20-30 hours per week) and temporary position is ideal for film students, recent graduates, or videographers with basic camera operation experience. The role involves operating a Canon camera, managing a teleprompter, and attaching lapel microphones to professors in a controlled studio setting. Training will be provided for specific equipment and procedures. No formal training is required, but familiarity with video production is preferred.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Set up and operate a Canon camera to record law school lectures.
- Manage teleprompter operations during recording sessions.
- Attach and adjust lapel microphones to ensure clear audio capture.
- Follow guidance from the media specialist on framing, focus, and audio levels.
- Monitor recording sessions to ensure high-quality footage.
- Assist with basic equipment setup and breakdown.
- Communicate any issues or concerns to the media team.
Required Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of camera operation and video recording.
- Ability to follow technical instructions and work independently.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistency in footage.
- Punctual and professional demeanor.
- Comfortable working in a quiet academic setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Canon cameras and basic audio recording.
- Prior experience with teleprompter operation.
- Familiarity with attaching and adjusting lapel microphones.
- Experience filming lectures, events, or interviews.
- Interest in film, media production, or videography.
Compensation: $23 to $25 per hour, based on experience.
